County Celebrates Women’s History Month with Library Events and Resources

 

Leon County Government celebrates the bravery, contributions, and progress of women during Women’s History Month with book clubs, story times, and resources from the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System. Thematic book lists, movie watchlists, and Traveling Book Club kits give citizens of all ages the opportunity to learn about the inspiring women who helped shape our community and the world.

 

In addition to these in-person and digital resources, citizens are encouraged to attend the County’s upcoming Women’s History Month events.

  • Preschool Story Time, throughout the month at branch library locations and via Zoom – Designed for children ages three to six, this story time will feature songs, rhymes, and stories focused on women.
  • Family Story Time, throughout the month at branch library locations – Families can enjoy songs, rhymes, and stories in honor of Women’s History Month. This program is designed for caregivers and children ages five and younger, but all ages are welcome!
  • Baby Story TimeFriday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m., Eastside Branch Library – Children up to the age of two can develop early literacy skills with songs, rhymes, and stories in honor of Women’s History Month.
  • Pop-Up Book Club: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m. via Zoom – Special guest Dr. Jenise Hudson, Assistant Professor at Florida A&M University, will share insights into this riveting story about race, family, and relationships.
