County Celebrates Women’s History Month with Library Events and Resources

Leon County Government celebrates the achievements and contributions of women during Women’s History Month with art exhibitions, a workshop, a scavenger hunt, and resources from the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System. Thematic book lists and movie watchlists give citizens of all ages the opportunity to learn about the inspiring women who helped shape our community and the world.

In addition to these in-person and digital resources, citizens are encouraged to attend the County’s upcoming Women’s History Month events:

  • Make Your Mark Art Workshop, Tuesday, March 12, from 6-8 p.m., Leon County Main Library – Teens and adults are invited to learn about Frida Kahlo's influence on art and then experiment with acrylic paint to create their own self-portrait. Register to participate.
  • Women’s History Month Art Exhibitions, throughout the month at multiple locations – Enjoy exhibitions featuring ocean fused glass pieces by Kim Campbell at the Bruce J. Host Northeast Branch Library, watercolors by Mary Liz Tippin-Moody at the Eastside Branch Library, and a display from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. focused on their history and local impact during "Finer Womanhood Month" at the Dr. B.L. Perry, Jr. Branch Library.
  • Women in Aviation Scavenger Hunt, throughout the month at all locations – Search the library for images of famous women aviators who accomplished great things in air and space. Learn more about them as you search and win a prize for completing a scavenger hunt card every week. To start your adventure, go to the library’s Information Desk for more information.
