County Celebrates New Playground at Man-O'-War Park
Yesterday, Leon County Government celebrated the opening of the new playground in Man-O’-War Park at 6568 Man O’ War Trail. Boasting vibrant colors, slides, and climbing features, the exciting play structure at the 4.4-acre park was designed to captivate and engage.
“We are proud to support our youth and future generations through the development of new recreational spaces in Leon County,” said Leon County Commission Chair Carolyn Cummings. “By providing a space for active play, children have more opportunities for physical, mental, and developmental growth.”
This revitalized playground elevates the quality of life within the community by offering a safe and enjoyable play environment for children. The Man-O’-War Park swing structure, installed in August last year, now fits seamlessly alongside the new play structure.
“This is a great amenity for northeast residents and everyone countywide,” said Leon County District 4 Commissioner Brian Welch. “With the addition of the playground and other play structures, this area has evolved into an exciting recreational space for all to enjoy.”
In 2022, Leon County assumed responsibilities for Man-O’-War Park through the Homeowner’s Association, who could no longer maintain it as an amenity.
“What began as an unfortunate situation soon became another great opportunity for the County to expand our recreational offerings to the community,” said County Administrator Vincent Long.
