Local organizations and experts will also provide resources about financing the purchase and maintenance of a home, homeowners’ insurance, sustainable living, and more.

Spring Home Expo workshops and demonstrations include:

Workshops
  • Homeownership Strategies for Success with the Tallahassee Lenders’ Consortium – Hear from a panel of loan experts, property insurance specialists, home inspectors, and more about how to stay in and maintain your home, regardless of what challenges life may bring.
  • Heir Property with Legal Services of North Florida – Learn all the legal steps needed to ensure a home is properly inherited.
  • Disaster Preparedness with the Leon County Division of Emergency Management – Learn how to assemble a kit with all the supplies you and your family (including pets!) will need to prepare for the next storm.

  • Composting at Home – Compost is great for soil, water, air quality, and community health. Join local experts to learn about starting a backyard composting operation.
  • Backyard Horticulture – Take a tour of the UF/IFAS Leon County Extension Office’s demo gardens and learn techniques for successful plant cultivation.
Breakfast will be served, and the Leon County Division of Housing Services will raffle off great giveaways to spruce up your home at the end of the event.
