As part of its ongoing commitment to building a #HurricaneStrong community, Leon County Government will host its next session of the Citizen Engagement Series on Thursday, June 19, at 6 p.m. at the Public Safety Complex, 911 Easterwood Drive. At the event, citizens can engage with and learn from public safety experts across the county. This year’s program includes new breakout sessions and hands-on activities, like Leon County Emergency Medical Services’ Stop the Bleed training, which teaches participants how to control bleeding in emergency situations. To register for this free event, visit LeonCountyFL.gov/CES.
The upcoming session, Citizen Engagement Series: Disaster Resilience Edition, will focus on building community preparedness and resilience in response to both man-made and natural disasters. Leon County will convene preparedness experts, public safety officials, non-profit partners, and other community leaders to discuss various topics, such as disaster preparedness, who to call in an emergency, and the importance of having a plan for your home.
This interactive, hands-on event puts disaster preparedness front and center as the 2025 hurricane season is officially underway. Citizens who attend the event will have a chance to win items that will be a great addition to their disaster preparedness supplies.
Open to all Leon County residents, those interested in the session can register at LeonCountyFL.gov/CES. Dinner will be provided. Registration closes Thursday, June 19, at noon, or sooner if space fills. Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that this event requires walking to and from sessions. While assistance services will be available, they are limited. We encourage all attendees to prepare accordingly for walking throughout the event.
Created in 2012, Leon County’s award-winning Citizen Engagement Series aims to engage citizens in new and innovative ways about County programs and services. To learn more, visit LeonCountyFL.gov/GetEngaged.
