Awards Ceremony to Recognize Strong Neighbors, Resilient Communities
Event hosted by CONA, County, City and Sustainable Tallahassee

 

The Council of Neighborhood Associations’ 38th annual awards reception will take place on Monday, June 18, at the North Florida Fairgrounds, 411 Paul Russell Rd. Attendees can network and enjoy refreshments beginning at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will start at 6 p.m.

The event is hosted jointly by the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), Leon County Government, the City of Tallahassee and Sustainable Tallahassee.

Leon County and the City of Tallahassee will respectively recognize two outstanding Small Neighborhoods of the Year (200 or fewer homes) and two Large Neighborhoods of the Year (more than 200 homes). The County will also honor one Unincorporated Area Neighborhood of the Year (outside the city limits). Winning neighborhoods will receive a sign to display at their entrance as 2018 Neighborhood of the Year.

The County and City will also recognize the 2018 Neighbors of the Year. Nominees considered for these categories are individuals who have exemplified the characteristics of leadership and service in making contributions to the community.

The nominees for Large Neighborhood of the Year are SouthWood Residential Community Association, Levy Park Neighborhood Association, Greater Bond Neighborhood Association and Providence Neighborhood Association.

The nominees for Small Neighborhood of the Year are Oak Knoll Estates and Crawfordville Trace Homeowners Association and Avondale Homeowners Association.

The nominees for Unincorporated Neighborhood of the Year are Avondale Homeowners Association and Arvah Branch Homeowners Association.

The nominees for Neighbor of the Year are Samadhi Jones (Forest Commons Neighborhood Association), Pastors Larry and Gloria McCray (Greater Bond Neighborhood Association), Allie Taylor-Grant (Griffin Heights Neighborhood Association), Catherine Miller (Levy Park Neighborhood Association) and Leslie Harris (Providence Neighborhood Association).

Winners of the Neighborhood and Neighbor of the Year awards will be announced at the reception, where CONA will also present its annual Public Servant of the Year Award and Business Neighbor of the Year Award. Sustainable Tallahassee will also announce a Sustainable Neighborhood of the Year.
