At Annual Retreat, Leon County Updates Five-Year Strategic Plan
At this year's annual retreat, the Board of County Commissioners reviewed and updated the County’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2026 Strategic Plan with the addition of 11 new or amended strategic initiatives that advance the organization’s strategic priorities in the areas of Economy, Environment, Quality of Life and Governance. The initiatives outlined in the strategic plan address the community’s greatest needs, such as affordable housing, public safety, economic development, and so much more.
“I am so grateful for this annual opportunity to work together to ensure the continued successes of our community," said Leon County Commission Chairman Christian Caban. "While we work to meet the needs of the community year-round, it is especially important to take time to review our plans and goals with strategic thought, and that is what we did here today.”
As part of the retreat, the Board received an update on the County’s progress toward reaching the organization’s Strategic Initiatives, Bold Goals and Five-Year Targets in the areas of Economy, Environment, Quality of Life, and Governance outlined in the Leon County Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
Additionally, the Board received a legislative update on Property Tax Reform and its potential impacts on the County's budget. Additionally, the Board will receive an update on the development of the County's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, which is intended to help Leon County implement and manage AI technologies responsibly and effectively.
"As we make significant progress toward achieving our goals, the County's strategic planning process is key to continuously delivering big results on a daily basis to our citizens and addressing our community’s most pressing issues,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long.
As part of the update, Commissioners reviewed the progress towards reaching the bold goals and five-year targets outlined in the FY 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, highlighting successes in the following areas:
- Attracting 73 state, regional and national championships across all sports to Leon County;
