Leon County's Commitment to Excellence Recognized by NACo with Seven Achievement Awards
Leon County Government has once again demonstrated its continuous commitment to excellence in public service by earning seven prestigious Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). This year's awards bring the County's total to an impressive 118 Achievement Awards received since 2013.
The NACo Achievement Award program honors outstanding county government programs and practices across the nation, highlighting Leon County's ongoing efforts to set the standard in public service. The awarded programs and projects, ranging from historic preservation to county resiliency, reflect the County's dedication to enhancing the lives of its residents.
“These recognitions highlight the County’s commitment to excellence in public service,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Brian Welch. “Our residents can take pride in knowing the very Leon County programs and services that touch their lives have earned the nation’s top honor.”
This year, Leon County earned the following Achievement Awards for exceptional programs and services:
- TEAM Leon, in the category of Risk and Emergency Management
- Sustainable Yard Debris Management Program, in the category of County Resiliency: Infrastructure, Energy, and Sustainability
- Family Heir Property Support Program, in the category of Human Services
- Lake Munson Action Plan, in the category of County Resiliency: Infrastructure, Energy, and Sustainability
- Affordable Housing and Home Buyer Support Initiative, in the category of Community
- and Economic Development
- Leading the Way for Family Day, in the category of Community and Economic Development
- Leon County Website Relaunch, in the category of Civic Education and Public Information
“This national recognition speaks to the County’s strong organizational culture and unwavering commitment to our citizens and community locally,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “Sustaining this level of excellence would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of our Leon County team and the leadership and support of our County Commission.”
The NACo Achievement Awards honor transformative programs, services and initiatives that advance county government and enhance services to citizens. This recognition reaffirms Leon County's dedication to excellence and continuous pursuit of innovative solutions to community challenges.
