Weird but Wonderful Carnivorous Plants of North Florida
Most people have at least heard of carnivorous plants and maybe have even grown a Venus fly trap at some time in their lives. Â The plants have fascinated scientists since Linneaus and Darwin because they upset the food chain by eating animals. Â But, most Tallahasseans are not aware that our local forests, savannas, and bogs are host to over 30 species of these interesting plants.
Join us on Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at the Leon County Main Library as Dr. Tom Miller speaks about the diversity of carnivorous plants in our area, how they work and their ecology, and where you might go to observe these plants on your own.Â
