Farm Share Food Distribution Saturday, May 16, at 9 a.m. Florida Department of Health in Leon County, 2965 Major James Morgan Way Carter’s Corner, with support from Leon County, is hosting a free food distribution to support Leon County families and residents. Leon County Tire Amnesty Days Retire Old Rubber During Tire Amnesty Days
Leon County Government, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting its annual Tire Amnesty Days program, a free tire collection event to reduce mosquito breeding grounds. Going on now through Monday, May 18, 2026, citizens can drop off old tires for free at the following Leon County facilities: Leon County Solid Waste Facility, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy. Fort Braden Rural Waste Center, 2485 East Joe Thomas Rd. Miccosukee Rural Waste Center, 13051 Miccosukee Rd. Woodville Rural Waste Center, 549 Henry Jones Rd. Leon County Public Works at 1800 N. Blair Stone Rd.
Residents may dispose of up to 24 passenger car tires free of charge. Commercial loads will not be accepted. Tires without rims are preferred.

Fertilizer Rain Delay in May
The Fertilizer Rain Delay campaign reminds homeowners and professional fertilizer applicators not to apply fertilizer for at least one day ahead of forecasted heavy rain (1 inch or more in 24 hours). Check Leon County social media pages for a reminder to refrain from fertilizing whenever there is heavy rain in the forecast.
