Leon County Press the Chest Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola Street Learn CPR to save a life at the annual Press the Chest community CPR training event on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola Street. People of all ages are invited to join Leon County EMS to learn the lifesaving skills of adult hands-only CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child choking relief, and AED awareness. Each participant will receive an American Heart Association CPR Anytime Kit containing a CPR manikin, DVD, and educational materials. Participants can take these personal CPR kits home to train family and friends. To register, visit LeonCountyFL.gov/PressTheChest. This is not a certification event. |

Leon County Tire Amnesty Days Retire Old Rubber During Tire Amnesty Days
Leon County Government, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting its annual Tire Amnesty Days program, a free tire collection to reduce mosquito breeding grounds. Beginning Friday, April 17, through Monday, May 18, 2026, citizens can drop off old tires for free at the following Leon County facilities: Leon County Solid Waste Facility, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy. Fort Braden Rural Waste Center, 2485 East Joe Thomas Rd. Miccosukee Rural Waste Center, 13051 Miccosukee Rd. Woodville Rural Waste Center, 549 Henry Jones Rd. Leon County Public Works at 1800 N. Blair Stone Rd.
Residents may dispose of up to 24 passenger car tires free of charge. Commercial loads will not be accepted. Tires without rims are preferred.

Apply for a Summer Job with Leon County
Leon County Government is now accepting applications for the 2026 Summer Youth Training Program. In partnership with CareerSource Capital Region, this five-week program provides young adults ages 14-24 with valuable job experience working in various Leon County departments over the summer. Participants will work 20 hours per week and earn $14 per hour. The Summer employment and training program will run from Monday, June 29, through Friday, July 31, 2026.
