Leon County Government is now accepting applications for the 2026 Summer Youth Training Program. The Summer Youth Training Program is a five-week program in which youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 can gain valuable job experience by working with a Leon County department.
Interested youth should apply now at LeonCountyFL.gov/SummerYouth. The application deadline is Monday, April 20, at 5 p.m. EST.
Youth and young adults can gain job experience over the summer across various County departments, including Emergency Medical Services, Fleet Management, Library Services, Public Works, and more. All positions are 20 hours per week and pay $14 per hour. The Summer Youth Training Program will run from Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 31, 2026.
Summer Youth Training Program participants will also gain professional development training through the Learn, Earn, and Advance Program (LEAP), a program focused on essential skills such as goal-setting, budgeting, time management, customer service, and so much more.
To help teens prepare for employment opportunities like the Summer Youth Training Program, Leon County is hosting Career Ready: Teen Mock Interviews on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the downtown Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave. Teens will learn how to present themselves professionally, answer common interview questions, and practice in mock interviews with peers. Learn more about the event at
