Education Programs

Do you want to learn more about Solid Waste, Recycling and Sustainability?

Invite the County’s Education Coordinator to your classroom, organization or community group. You can learn about waste stewardship by reducing the amount of garbage you make.

The Recycling Program provides FREE public education programs on solid waste management and the role that YOU, our residents, play. Leon County produces 800-1,000 tons of garbage daily. More than half of that garbage can be reused or recycled.

Some easily recyclable items can sit in a landfill for up to 1,000 years. By making sure we maximize recycling, we help reduce the need for more landfills. Recyclable products such as paper, glass, aluminum, and steel can be made into new products that you buy every day.

If you’d like to know more about recycling and sustainability, call (850) 606-5022 to set up a FREE presentation at your school, community group or organization.
