List of Dangerous Classified Animals Located in Leon County 

Leon County Animal Control receives and investigates dozens of complaints on animals every year that threaten or harm people or pets. Many of these cases result in animals being classified dangerous. To review the list of animals classified dangerous under Leon County Ordinance, click on the category below. Individual cases, location of the animal, along with a picture of the animal may be viewed. If you see one of these animals loose, please phone Leon County Animal Control at (850)  606-5400  or Leon County Sheriff Office at (850) 922-3300. A Leon County Animal Control Officer will respond and investigate the complaint.

Definition of Dangerous:  

Dangerous animal shall mean an animal that has, when unprovoked, 

  1. aggressively bitten, attacked, or endangered or has inflicted severe injury on a human being on public or private property; or
  2. has more than once severely injured or killed a domestic animal while off the owner’s property; or
  3. has, when unprovoked, chased or approached a person upon the streets, sidewalks, or any public grounds in a menacing fashion, or an apparent attitude of attack, 
  4. provided that such actions as set forth and described in paragraphs   a), b) and c) above are attested to in a sworn statement by one or more persons and dutifully investigated by the appropriate authority.
