Spruce Up Your Spring Garden with Seeds from the Library

With spring right around the corner, get a jump start on your seasonal garden at the 2017 Spring Seed Library launch on Saturday, February 4 at noon at the Northeast Branch Library, 5513 Thomasville Road.
At the event, experts from Leon County Cooperative Extension will share tips for starting you own garden. Attendees will learn about site selection, irrigation, and how to prepare seasonal recipes with the vegetables grown in their garden. Library patrons can also browse materials on gardening and cooking.
Starting Saturday, February 4, library patrons can check out three seed packets per card a month from all seven LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library locations while supplies last. Each packet contains ten seeds.
The seed varieties for Spring 2017 are Spaghetti Squash, Tommy Toe Tomato, Mortgage Lifter Tomato, Green Doctors Tomato, Genovese Basil, Ajvarski Sweet Pepper, Blue Lake Bean, Black Beauty Zucchini, and Zipper Cream Southern Pea.
