Nationally recognized writer and poet David Kirby will join Leon County at Booked for Lunch on Thursday, January 17 at 12:15 p.m. at the Dr. B.L Perry, Jr. Branch Library, 2817 S. Adams Street.
David Kirby is the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of English at Florida State University. A Johns Hopkins PhD, he is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, as well as four University Teaching Awards and a University Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a regular reviewer for The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Recent books include Crossroad: Artist, Audience, and the Making of American Music and poetry collection, Get Up, Please. His next book of poems, More Than This, will appear in Fall 2019.
Join us for an illuminating hour of poetry and a discussion on the creative writing process. Bring a bag lunch and enjoy light refreshments.
