Leon County's Commitment to Excellence Recognized by National Association of Counties
Leon County has once again demonstrated its continuous commitment to excellence in public service as it proudly announces receiving eight more prestigious Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). This year's awards bring the County's total to an impressive 103 Achievement Awards received since 2013, including three programs that were recognized as the best in their category nationwide.
The NACo's Achievement Award program recognizes outstanding county government programs and practices across the nation, making this recognition a significant testament to Leon County's continuous efforts to set the standard in public service. From community engagement to technological advancements, the awarded programs and projects reflect the county's dedication to improving the lives of its residents.
“We are thrilled to receive eight Achievement Awards from NACo,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Nick Maddox. “These recognitions demonstrate our commitment to living our 'People Focused, Performance Driven' culture, even in the face of challenges. Together, we are driving positive change and making a significant impact on our community."
Many of the NACo awards highlight programs, services and initiatives that advance county government and enhance services to citizens. This consistent recognition reaffirms Leon County's dedication to excellence and its continuous pursuit of innovative solutions to community challenges.
“NACo’s Achievement Award program recognizes the best of the best in county government programs and practices nationwide, so earning these designations is an important testament to Leon County’s efforts to consistently set the standard in public service,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “This recognition showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our Leon County employees, as well as the leadership provided by the Board of County Commissioners. Recognitions like these continue to demonstrate that it's working and producing results.”
In 2023, Leon County Government received the following Achievement Awards for exceptional programs and services:
