Leon County to Host Educational Litter Clean Up at Lake Munson

WHAT:  Lake Munson Litter Clean Up and Educational Service Event
WHEN:  Saturday, April 8 at 9 a.m.
WHERE:  Gil Waters Preserve at Lake Munson, 1306 Jackson Moody Place
   
Leon County Government will host Boy Scouts of America Troop 23 for an educational service event at Lake Munson on Saturday, April 8 at 9 a.m. at the Gil Waters Preserve, 1306 Jackson Moody Place. Boy Scouts Troop 23 will provide a helping hand in the cleanup of litter from the shoreline of Lake Munson and the nearby forest area. This event will also serve as an opportunity to educate and engage volunteers and media partners on the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the health of Lake Munson, including the drawdown, infrastructure updates, septic-to-sewer upgrades, and more.

Representatives from Leon County Public Works will present educational materials regarding the ongoing Lake Munson Drawdown, the effort toward reducing aquatic trash, and the overall investment in Lake Munson’s health as well as our community’s environment.
Leon County puts continuous effort into the care and preservation of its water bodies and systems. Lake Munson has historically led the County to explore innovative technology and solutions to ensure its health and quality. The shoreline cleanup demonstrates the County's continued commitment to preserving natural resources and protecting Lake Munson's water quality and health.
