Leon County Government invites the community to the dedication of Parwez “P.A.” Alam Park at Okeeheepkee Prairie Preserve on Tuesday, August 10 at 11 a.m. The family-friendly event will celebrate the new upgrades to the park, including a focus on inclusive play equipment for children of all abilities. Attendees will be treated to free snowcones provided by Kona Ice.
Parwez “P.A.” Alam Park is being dedicated in recognition of Leon County’s former County Administrator who served for 22 years in his position and led the charge in creating library and park systems, opening community centers, improving road and storm-water facilities and building the County Courthouse, jail, and garbage Transfer Station, among other accomplishments.
The dedication of this new park space within the 26-acre Okeeheepkee Prairie Preserve aligns with the County’s strategic goal to promote livability, health and sense of community by enhancing mobility and accessibility, encouraging human scale development, and creating public spaces for people.
