Leon County COVID-19 Community Update for March 30

March 30, 2020

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, Leon County Emergency Management is committed to actively monitoring the disease and coordinating preparedness efforts with local health officials, healthcare providers, first responders, and other critical emergency response functions.

The following update provides a timely, accurate, and vetted source of official County and community information.

Significant Changes Since Last Update

  • Northwood Collection site closed on Tuesday. Due to inclement weather the Northwood collection site will be closed on Tuesday.
  • Property Tax Payments due April 15th. While tax collector offices remain closed to the public, customers are directed to use other convenient payment options. Property tax payments can be made​:
    • Online at leontaxcollector.net (credit/debit cards and echecks),
    • By using the tax collector drop box located outside of each customer service center.
    • By mail (payable to Doris Maloy, Tax Collector and mailed to PO Box 1835, Tallahassee, FL 32302), or
    • For assistance or questions, please call 850-606-4700 between 8AM - 1:00PM, Monday thru Friday. 
  • Today, Governor DeSantis declared:
    • A Safer-At-Home order for the following four southeast Florida counties: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe.
    • An executive order allowing recently retired law enforcement and healthcare personnel to return to work immediately to help with the state's coronavirus response.
  • Sunday, March 29, President Trump extended social distancing guidelines until April 30. All Americans must continue to avoid nonessential travel, eating at bars and restaurants, or gathering in groups of more than 10 for at least another month.
  • CDC issues Domestic Travel Advisory for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Due to extensive community transmission of COVID -19 in the area, CDC urges residents of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to refrain from non-essential domestic travel for 14 days effective immediately.
  • COCA launches online events as a new category. Online streaming services and virtual spaces offer you more ways to stay connected and engaged with Tallahassee’s cultural organizations and artists.
