As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, Leon County Emergency Management is committed to actively monitoring the disease and coordinating preparedness efforts with local health officials, healthcare providers, first responders and other critical emergency response functions.
The following update provides a timely, accurate and vetted source of official County and community information.
Significant Changes Since Last Update
- FAMU Bragg Memorial Stadium COVID-19 testing site extends operations to June 15. The testing site will be open until at least June 15. More here.
- Additional COVID-19 testing options made available in Tallahassee-Leon County. Testing capacities continue to increase across the community, from Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium, Patients First, CVS, Tallahassee Memorial Transition Center, Bond Community Health Center, Capital Health Plan and the Neighborhood Medical Center. - Florida Department of Financial Services announces MoneyWise Florida to provide financial information to residents. MoneyWise Florida is a statewide public education initiative designed to provide practical advice to millions of Floridians on topics ranging from getting out of debt to securing a mortgage, from saving for a child's college education to planning for a secure retirement. - Northwood Centre COVID-19 testing site now closed. The decision to close Northwood comes as testing capabilities continue to increase across the community.
- Disaster Preparedness sales tax holiday starts May 29 until June 4. Residents should use this time to stock up on qualifying disaster preparedness supplies exempt from tax to prepare for the 2020 hurricane season. A list of qualifying items can be found here.
- Mental health support provided by 2-1-1 Big Bend. 2-1-1 Big Bend is available 24 hours a day to listen and provide emotional support, crisis counseling, suicide prevention and information/referrals. More here.
- COVID-19 by the Numbers. Global cases of COVID-19 now surpass 6.2 million. According to the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) there are 405 positive cases of COVID-19 in Leon County. In Florida, there are now 56,830 positive cases of COVID-19, and 2,460 COVID-19-related deaths. These numbers are updated regularly by FDOH; visit the dashboard for more detailed information, here.
