Leon County COVID-19 Community Update for April 21

April 21, 2020

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, Leon County Emergency Management is committed to actively monitoring the disease and coordinating preparedness efforts with local health officials, healthcare providers, first responders, and other critical emergency response functions.

The following update provides a timely, accurate, and vetted source of official County and community information.

Significant Changes since Last Update

  • FAMU Bragg Stadium Will Host Walk-up COVID-19 Testing Site Beginning Saturday. The site, which is being hosted especially for residents of Tallahassee’s southside, is scheduled to operate for 14 consecutive days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Organizers plan to conduct 200 tests per day. Testing is free and open to the public.
  • All Florida K-12 schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year and will continue to give instruction through distance learning. More here. 
  • The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Launches new Reemployment Assistance Dashboard. The Dashboard provides daily updates on efforts to address reemployment assistance challenges. More here.
  • Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency Board Activates $1M Grant for Non-Profits Impacted by COVID-19. More here. Applications will go live on April 17 at 12 p.m. at www.OEVFORBusiness.org/LEAN
  • COVID-19 by the Numbers. Global cases of COVID-19 now surpass 2.5 million. According to the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) there are 184 positive cases of COVID-19 in Leon County. In Florida, there are now 27,495 positive cases of COVID-19, and 823 COVID-19-related deaths. These numbers are updated regularly by FDOH; visit the dashboard for more detailed information, here.
