LEON COUNTY COMMISSIONER KRISTIN DOZIER RECEIVES THE APALACHEE REGIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL D.R.E.A.M. AWARD

Tallahassee, FL – In recognition of outstanding vision and momentous efforts concerning the recovery of the Apalachee Region, Leon County Commissioner and ARPC Vice-Chair Kristin Dozier was presented with the ARPC Distinguished Regional Enhancement Advocate Merit (D.R.E.A.M.) Award on February 6, 2020 at the ARPC bimonthly Board Meeting. As communities throughout the Region continue to recover, Commissioner Dozier’s drive and determination to promote economic development has brought life and synergy back to a region that was utterly devastated by Hurricane Michael.

Commissioner Dozier was the catalyst for the Inaugural 850 Hemp Summit in October 2019 and the 850 Hemp Summit: Marianna in November of 2019. Her coordination of the Summits was a testament to her commitment to the resiliency of the Apalachee Region, and Commissioner Dozier’s exemplary leadership continues to effect positive change throughout the Region as a whole. Commissioner Dozier and her efforts embody the true sense of Regionalism, and the nature and magnitude of her contributions will have a lasting impact on local citizens that continue to recover losses and prepare for the future.

The D.R.E.A.M Award was established in January of 2020 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership that goes above and beyond the call of duty in their responsibilities with the Apalachee Regional Planning Council. The establishment of this award was inspired by Commissioner Dozier’s vision and commitment to promote economic growth and improve quality of life throughout the Apalachee Region.

The Apalachee Regional Planning Council provides technical assistance to its member local governments, which includes Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Wakulla counties, and their respective municipalities. The Apalachee Regional Planning Council serves its citizens and local governments by providing technical assistance and a forum for communication and collaboration to preserve and enhance the economic, natural and social environments of the Apalachee Region.
