Leon County Accepting Second Cycle Tourism Grant Applications for Sports and Bicentennial Special Events

The Leon County Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee) second cycle grant application process for the 2023-24 Bicentennial Special Event and Sports Grants is now open. Applications are due by Friday, February 16, 2024, at 5 p.m. This opportunity represents the ongoing effort to promote tourism and provide financial support for events that have a history of, or show potential to, attract out-of-town visitors to the area during the Bicentennial year.

Eligible event(s) must take place between March 15, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2024, and are required to comply with Section 125.0104, Florida Statutes with the requirements for the event to be marketed outside the area to generate visitation in order to utilize Tourist Development Tax (TDT) funds. Event grant applications are evaluated based on the historical or potential ability to attract overnight visitors, appeal to the general public, promote the Bicentennial and demonstrate out-of-area marketing and promotion. Event funding requests are evaluated by the anticipated number of hotel room nights/overnight lodging in Leon County generated by the event.

In 2024, Tallahassee/Leon County commemorates and celebrates its 200-year anniversary. All grant applicants are strongly encouraged to embrace the Bicentennial anniversary and must include the Bicentennial logo, URL or have Bicentennial programming as part of the event.
