Hurricane Michael Community Meeting

County and City seek citizen feedback

Who:     Leon County and the City of Tallahassee

What:    Hurricane Michael Community Dialogue Session

When:   Thursday, November 8, 6 p.m.

Where:  Trinity United Methodist Church, 120 W. Park Ave.

Leon County Government and the City of Tallahassee will host a community dialogue session to discuss disaster response and recovery efforts for Hurricane Michael and how the City and County can best meet the needs of the community during future disasters.

At this meeting, staff will give a brief overview of the disaster. Following the presentation, residents will have an opportunity to share feedback that will be used to enhance future response efforts. Representatives from emergency management agencies will also be in attendance to answer questions.

Before September 2, 2016, Tallahassee / Leon County had not been struck by a hurricane since 1985, and a hurricane had not made landfall in the State of Florida since 2005. Since 2016, however, Leon County has been hit by three consecutive hurricanes, most recently by Hurricane Michael, the strongest recorded hurricane to hit this area since 1851.

If you are unable to attend the community dialogue session but would like to provide input, comments can be sent to stormrecovery@LeonCountyFl.gov or ContactUs@Talgov.com
