Leon County Government invites families to TasteBud Explorers, a healthy cooking and neighborhood resource fair event, on Tuesday, April 30, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Pineview Elementary School, 2230 Lake Bradford Road.

Building on the success and feedback from the County’s Breaking Bread food insecurity neighborhood meetings in 2022, this family-friendly event will include a healthy cooking demonstration and opportunities for residents to learn about the feeding programs and resources available in the community, including the Summer BreakSpot Program and neighborhood food pantries.

Held in partnership with the City of Tallahassee, United Way of the Big Bend, the Children’s Services Council of Leon County, UF/IFAS Leon County Extension, and Second Harvest of the Big Bend, this event will include healthy, delicious food tastings as well as music and prizes.

Register for this free event at LeonCountyFL.gov/WhatsCookin.

Leon County Government continues to address food security barriers in neighborhoods with the highest food insecurity rates in Leon County through collaborative community partnerships and innovative initiatives, including food lockers at Sabal Palm Elementary and snack and meal distribution for youth at Leon County Public Library locations throughout the year. To learn more about local food pantries and distribution sites, visit the Second Harvest of the Big Bend website at FightingHunger.org.
