Leon County Government invites the community to celebrate a new chapter during the grand opening of the newly renovated second floor of the downtown Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue, on Friday, September 26, at 10:30 a.m.
The renovation was completed as part of the County’s Essential Libraries Initiative and transforms more than 30,000 square feet to expand opportunities for residents to learn, connect, and grow. With a flexible, forward-thinking design, new technology, and enhanced accessibility features, the second floor strengthens the library’s role as a cornerstone of community life—supporting students, job seekers, families, and lifelong learners alike.
Highlighted features of the renovated second floor include:
- 15 new meeting rooms and gathering spaces for community use.
- Career Corner workforce development hub to support career growth.
- A CAT Excavator simulator, making Leon County one of only two libraries in the nation to offer this unique resource for hands-on workforce training.
- A soundproof recording studio.
- Learning Commons, featuring space for adult education and English as a Second Language tutoring services.
- Public computer areas and updated study spaces.
- Comfortable seating, accessible shelving, and mobile information desks.
- Enhanced directional signage to improve wayfinding throughout the floor.
Following the program, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and tours of the newly renovated spaces.
