Leon County Government invites the community to the 27th Annual Volunteer Fire Truck Round-Up, honoring the County’s volunteer firefighters. This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tom Brown Park by the dog park near Lake Leon.

Free and open to the public, this event celebrates the dedication and service of Leon County’s volunteer firefighters. During the event, residents have the opportunity to meet the County's six volunteer fire rescue departments, see and tour fire trucks, and take photos with the firefighters and fire trucks. Attendees can enjoy free food, music, and activities for kids, including a bounce house, face painting, giveaways, and more, making it a fun day for the family. The event will also recognize and celebrate volunteer firefighters and their role during disasters such as Hurricanes Debby and Helene.

At the event, the Jack Harron Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award will be presented at 11 a.m. to a volunteer firefighter who demonstrates outstanding character and puts “service above self." Chief Jack Harron served 17 years as fire chief and was instrumental in the creation of the annual Volunteer Firefighter Fire Truck Round-Up. Throughout his time as a firefighter, Harron exemplified putting service to the community above service to self.

Additionally, information on how to become a volunteer firefighter will be available at the event. Attendees can speak one-on-one with current volunteer firefighters to learn more about the rewards of joining this vital team.
