Leon County, American Legion Host 13th Annual Operation Thank You Breakfast to Honor Veterans
Today, Leon County Government partnered with American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 to host the annual Operation Thank You community breakfast to honor the service and sacrifice of United States Armed Forces veterans. In gratitude, Leon County Commissioners, County staff, American Legion members, and community volunteers served breakfast to the more than 450 veterans and their families in attendance.
“For more than a decade, Leon County has been committed to honoring our veterans through the annual Operation Thank You community breakfast,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Brian Welch. “Today and every day, we are proud to recognize the 17,000 veterans who call Leon County home and whose service shaped the very freedoms we cherish.”
Each year during the event, Leon County takes the opportunity to recognize a veteran or veteran organization for their continued service to veterans in our community. This year, the County presented two Veterans Day proclamations honoring Chief Master Sergeant Charles LeCroy, U.S. Air Force veteran who completed 22 years of service, and Military Police Officer Timothy Griffith, U.S. Army veteran who completed nine years of service.
“Leon County’s Operation Thank You is a time-honored tradition that unites County staff and the community in thanking local veterans and their families for their bravery and sacrifice,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “We are proud to recognize and support local veterans throughout the year."
Since 2012, Leon County has held Operation Thank You events annually to give the community an opportunity to thank the brave men and women who have served or continue to serve their country in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Operation Thank You breakfast is one of the community’s largest events to show appreciation for the more than 17,000 veterans who call Leon County home.
“American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 is honored to partner with Leon County Government for more than a decade to host the beloved Operation Thank You community breakfast,” said Post 13 Commander Dennis Hall. “Post 13 members offer our profound thanks to every veteran for their unwavering service and commitment to our nation.”
Leon County remains committed to supporting local veterans all year long with services and programs offered by the Leon County Division of Veteran Services. The Division assists veterans and their dependents in securing all entitled benefits earned through their honorable military service and advocates for veterans’ interests in the community.
