Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library

 

2022

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library for general programming and the Library of Things. The check was presented at the January 2023 Leon County Commission meeting.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library’s Literacy Program.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $3,000 for the purchase of best-selling books for new book club kits.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $5,000 to the Library Director’s fund.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $60,000 to KCCI’s Fully Booked Project, earmarked specifically for three Wander in Wonder Story Trails located adjacent to three library branches.

 

2021

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library for the Library of Things program
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library’s Literacy Program.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $3,000 for the purchase of best-selling books for new book club kits.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $55,000 for the Essential Libraries Initiative, and present the check at the December 2021 Leon County Commission meeting.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $5000 for the Library Director’s fund in 2021.

 

2019

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library’s Literacy Volunteers of Leon County Program.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $14,425 to the Library for a ECO Master Disc Repair Machine.

 

2018

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library.
  • The Friends of the Library donate funding for Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headsets to the Library.
  • The Friends of the Library donate funding for Kanopy, the online video streaming service.
  • The Friends of the Library donate 12 Newtonian telescopes which can be checked out by patrons through the Telescope Lending Program.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Literacy Volunteers of Leon County Program.

 

2017

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library’s Literacy Program

 

2016

 

  • A $100,000 donation is presented at the Author Event featuring Lisa Scottoline, culminating the 25th anniversary celebration of the Main Library Grand Opening. The Board on County Commissioners accepted the donation on December 13, 2016, with $88,000 going to books and library materials and $12,000 going to special events programming.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library’s Literacy Program

 

2015

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 for the Library’s Literacy Program.

 

2014

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library with $87,000  going toward books and materials and $13,000 going toward Special Programming for Children’s Book Week and the Summer Reading Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on January 21, 2014.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to support the Library’s Literacy Program.

 

2013

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to support the LIbrary’s Literacy Program.

 

2012

 

  • The Friends of the Library and the Bruce J. Host Library Center Fund donate $7,644 to be used for equipment and installation costs for an up-to-date audiovisual system for the program room at the Northeast Branch Library. The donation was presented at the Leon County Board of County Commissioners meeting on April 24, 2012.

 

2011

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $14,785 for a new audiovisual system for the Collins Main Library program rooms.  The donation was presented at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on August 23, 2011.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to support the Library’s Literacy Program.

 

2010

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $15,000 to the Library for enhancement of  the Library’s Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on September 14, 2010.
  • The Friends of the Library donate $2,500 to support the 2010 Big Read.

 

2009

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $29,161 to support the 2009 Big Read.

 

2008

 

  • The Friends donate $100,000 to the Library, with $83,000 going to books and materials, $10,000 to other contractual services, $5,000 for operating supplies for the Big Read and $2,000 for publications.  The donation was presented at the Leon County Board of County Commissioner Meeting on July 22, 2008.

 

2007

 

  • With committed funding from 2005 the Friends of the Library and Leon County, the Library purchases a new bookmobile and a book hauler for outreach services. The purchase was approved by Board of County Commissioners on September 18, 2007.

 

2006

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $50,000 to the Library, with $30,000  going toward Library programs and materials; $15,000 going toward the Library’s Literacy Program and $5,000 going toward training.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on March 14, 2006.

 

2005

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $150,000 to the Library with $100,000  going toward a new book mobile purchase; $35,000 toward Library programs and materials and $15,000 going toward the Library’s Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on June 14, 2005.

 

2004

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $50,000 to the Library  with $35,000 going toward programs and materials and $15,000 going toward the Library’s Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on April 27, 2004.

 

2003

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library  with $85,000  going toward programs and materials and $15,000 going toward the Library Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on May 13, 2003.

 

2002

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library  with $85,000  going toward programs and materials and $15,000 going toward the Library Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on May 28, 2002.

 

2001

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $100,000 to the Library with $85,000  going toward programs and materials and $15,000 going toward the Library Literacy Program.  This donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on June 19, 2001.

 

2000

 

  • The Friends of the Library donate $140,000 to the Library with $125,000 going toward Library programs and materials and $15,000 to fund the Literacy Coordinator position. The donation was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on February 15, 2000.

 

1954

 

  • The Friends of the Library was formed by the American Association of University Women to generate public support for a library. Tallahassee was the only state capital in the United States not offering free public library service.
