About Marcia Labat
What motivated you to become a Director for the Friends of the Library?
I guess you could say that the bookmobile motivated me to become a director for the Friends of the Library. As a child, I remember how exciting it was when the bookmobile came to my side of town. I spent as much time as possible in that mobile library, looking for just the right books. Imagine my surprise, when as an adult, I learned that the Friends of the Library had raised and contributed the funds that purchased the bookmobile! These days, the library’s collection has gone far beyond books. With the help of the Friends of the Library our community has more books and ebooks than ever, telescopes, virtual reality headsets, audio-visual equipment, and a book hauler. These are just a few of the items purchased and donated by the Friends of the Library, and that doesn’t even include the hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to the library over the last 30 years. How could I not want to be a part of the organization that helps our library in such a wonderful way?
What superpowers do you bring to the FOL Board?
