About Lisa Harvey

What motivated you to become a Director for the Friends of the Library?

One of my favorite memories growing up is going to the Leon County Public Library, back when it was on Monroe Street, and checking out armloads of books. I even worked at the library when I was in high school. Years later, I am still a big reader and a huge fan of the library. I am excited to be on the board and help with projects that might bring the joy to others that I experienced as a child with those armloads of books.

What superpowers do you bring to the FOL Board?

My superpower is planning and organizing projects and events.

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

Name three recent books you would highly recommend:

  • A Promise Land by Barack Obama
  • The Water Keeper by Charles Martin

Do you prefer to read printed books, ebooks or audiobooks?

I prefer ebooks because I can carry hundreds of books with me when I travel and I can adjust the font size and lighting, and look up the definition of a word simply by clicking on it. I also love audiobooks because they allow me to multitask, I listen when I am driving, working in the yard or just walking around the block!

Where is your favorite place to read?

I love reading at the beach or by the pool!

What do you do in your spare time?

I lenjoy blogging about books on my website, visiting with friends and family, and traveling.

Are you a dog lover or cat lover?

I absolutely adore my eleven year-old black cocker spaniel named Grace.
