About Jonathan Klepper

What motivated you to become a Director for the Friends of the Library?

I didn’t know much about the Friends of the Library when I joined the board. I thought it would be a great way to learn more about the library and the community it serves.

What superpowers do you bring to the FOL Board?

I think of myself as a connector. I try to maximize relationships and networks in creative ways. I’ve tried to build partnerships with existing community resources in a way that benefits both the library and the greater Tallahassee community as a whole.

Where were you born, and how long have you lived in Tallahassee?

I was born in California, but have called Florida home for almost 30 years. Half of those years were spent in Tallahassee.

What is your favorite reading genres?

Do I have to choose? I bounce back and forth from historical fiction to a fast paced thriller.

What is your favorite book of all time?

I enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, especially when it evolved to a new author (David Lagercrantz) following the original author (Stieg Larsson) passing away. It was such a unique situation for someone else to finish his story.

Name three recent books you would highly recommend:

  • Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid
  • Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
  • The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Do you prefer to read printed books, ebooks or audiobooks?

I prefer holding a book in my hands. Though there is no substitute for an audiobook on a long car ride.

Where is you favorite place to read?

I like to read before bed. It’s my favorite way to let the day go and escape into a good book.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love to travel. I try to plan a trip or activity once a month if I’m able. St. Mark’s Lighthouse is a favorite place to visit when Italy seems too far away.

Are you a dog lover or cat lover?

I love both. As long as they’re yours.
