William A. Register Sr. lived in Leon County for 60 years where he made a living in the farming, cattle, and lumber industries. He served as a County Commissioner representing District 5 from 1905 until 1920. He also served as state representative in the 1913 and 1927 sessions and was later appointed to the school board, where he served from 1930 until 1946. He died in Woodville on May 22, 1950.
