Thomas Pleasant Strickland Jr.

A native of Leon County, Thomas Pleasant Strickland Jr. was born on September 10, 1887. He attended Leon High School and Draughn’s Business College in Atlanta. He was active in the Beth Page Methodist Church ministry and held memberships for the Masonic Lodge and the Rod and Gun Club. He made a prosperous living as a farmer and managed the Tall Timbers Plantation for 50 years. From 1921 to 1932, he served on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners, representing District 2. He died at his home in Lake Iamonia on May 22, 1958, and is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
