Robert K. “Bob” Henderson was born in Wisconsin. He had a background in government accounting and finance and worked as vice comptroller at Florida State University. Henderson was elected to represent District 4 on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners in 1978. He later represented District 3 beginning in 1986. During his three terms in office, he encouraged citizens to get more involved in their local government, advocated for a permanent public library and a new County Courthouse, and supported protections for the environment. He was selected as Board Chairman in 1979-1980.
