Louis Charles Yaeger was born on January 27, 1858, near Dalton, Georgia. He moved to Tallahassee at the age of 25 and became active in the community. He was a builder and contractor who helped construct the first Leon County Courthouse, added on to the State Capitol building, and built the city utility plant, among others. He also ran a hardware store, general mercantile, and turpentine business. Yaeger represented the residents of District 5 on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners from 1899 through 1904 and was selected as Chairman of the Board during his tenure. He served in the 1913 State Legislature and was also a city councilman. He was active in several organizations, including the First Presbyterian Church, Elks, Odd Fellows, Freemasons, and Rotary. Yaeger died on May 20, 1951, and is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
