John Richard Bradford was born on February 8, 1834, in Leon County. He served as Captain of Company H., 1st Confederate Eng. Regiment during the American Civil War. He was a planter, director of the Middle Florida Agricultural and Mechanical Association, and an incorporator and elected teller of the Thomasville Railroad Company. He served as County Commissioner from January 15, 1877, until his resignation on November 14, 1898. He died on December 9, 1908, and is buried in St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery.
