John Parkhill Chaires

John Parkhill Chaires was born July 1, 1875, and raised in Chaires, Florida, as a member of a pioneer family of Leon County. He made his living as a farmer and merchant owner of a general store. He served the residents of District 1 on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners from 1921 to 1924, and as Justice of the Peace for more than 20 years. He died on April 25, 1963, and is buried at Oakland Cemetery.
