John Christie Hall was born in Adel, Georgia, on October 15, 1896. He was in the real estate and investment business and operated the Christie Hall Business Machine Company. Hall was elected to the Leon County Board of County Commissioners in 1951 and served three terms before retiring in 1963. He was a supporter of an economic and efficient government and the expansion of recreational facilities. During his time in office, he championed the construction of Capital Circle, a dam at Lake Miccosukee, and the County Courthouse addition, which began in 1960 and was dedicated in 1962. He served as Commission Chairman three times in 1954-1955, 1958-1959, and 1962-1963. Active in the community, Hall was a member of the Tallahassee Board of Realtors, the Chamber of Commerce, and the North Florida Fair Association. Hall died on May 4, 1972, and is buried at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida.
