John Calvin Moore was born on May 24, 1866, on the Lake Jackson farm of his Leon County pioneer settler family. He was a dairy farmer and raised award-winning purebred cattle. Moore served as Leon County District 3 Commissioner from 1905-1906 and then again from 1911-1920. His colleagues referred to him as the watchdog of County funds. He died on February 8, 1943.
