"James Daniel "Jimbo" Jackson was born on December 28, 1966, and grew up in the Fort Braden community of western Leon County. In 1992, he began his career at Fort Braden School as a teacher before eventually becoming principal in 2008. He also spent 20 years as a volunteer coach.
Jackson was first elected to the County Commission in 2016 and served nearly six years representing District 2. He was Chairman of the Board from 2018-2019. During his time as County Commissioner, Jackson advocated for County projects such as providing critical community-wide aid during the COVID-19 pandemic, widening and improving Capital Circle, creating Broadmoor Pond Park, installing a playground at Fort Braden Park and other improvements, and the Fort Braden History Walk.
Jackson died on May 28, 2022, and is buried at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park."
