Frank Stoutamire was born in Leon County on May 30, 1891. He served in several roles as a public servant, including Leon County Sheriff and Chief of the Tallahassee Police Department. From 1919 to 1920, Stoutamire served as County Commissioner for District 4. He served as both president and treasurer of the Florida Sheriff’s Association and vice president of the International Sheriffs and Police Officers Association. As head of the Leon County Fair Association, he promoted agricultural development and started the North Florida Fair. He was a charter member of the Tallahassee Exchange and the Elks Club as well as a member of the First Baptist Church. He died August 13, 1973.
