David O’Keefe grew up in Jacksonville before moving to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University (FSU). After receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from FSU in 2007 and a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University in 2009, O’Keefe became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Florida in 2010. He spent the next 15 years overseeing the finances of public nonprofits and government organizations.
In 2022, O’Keefe was elected to the District 5 seat on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners. His priorities include affordable housing, environmental protection, economic development, public safety, and transparency and accountability.
During his tenure, O’Keefe has proposed and supported efforts to increase affordable housing development, home rule tenant protections, pedestrian and biking safety, and climate initiatives.
O’Keefe is a volunteer with the VITA Low-Income Tax Preparation Program and the Tallahassee-Leon County Animal Shelter and serves as a foster for shelter animals.
