Years of Service: 1998-2006

Dan Winchester earned his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Florida State University. He later worked as a planning commissioner from 1995-1998 and owned a tree farm in Gadsden County. He served on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners representing the citizens of District 3 from 1998-2006. During his tenure, he advocated for stronger growth rules and better long-range planning, supported neighborhoods, wanted to provide more after school activities for youth, and championed environmental protections for canopy roads and lakes. He was selected as Chairman from 2001-2002.
