Carol Kio-Green grew up in Tallahassee and later studied art history at Florida State University. Active in the community, she was a founding member of the Chapel Ridge Neighborhood Association and the Clean Energy Coalition. Before running for office, she worked as a data entry operator for Leon County Government. Elected to the Leon County Board of County Commissioners to represent District 2 in 1992, Kio-Green focused on lake restoration, garbage disposal, and fiscal responsibility. During her tenure, she advocated for preserving neighborhoods, managing growth and waste, improving children’s health, safety, and education, and equity and fairness for all citizens in the community. She served on the Board for one term.
