Bob Rackleff graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in American studies. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967 before retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Intelligence Reserve. He later worked as a corporate and political speechwriter for more than 20 years. Rackleff represented the citizens of District 5 on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners from 1998-2010. During his 12 years in office, Rackleff was a champion of the environment, supported funding for branch libraries, campaigned for the creation of Blueprint 2000 to invest in local infrastructure projects, and fought to broaden the County’s human rights ordinance to prohibit discrimination based on gender expression. He served as Chairman of the Board 2009-2010.
