Housing Services Funding Notification List
A sufficient number of applications have been received to expend available funding for all programs and as such receipt of new applications has been suspended. At this time, we expect to reopen the application portal for our programs in late Summer. It is anticipated that information will be posted on our website (www.leoncountyfl.gov/housing) at least 30 days prior to the reopening of the application portal.
State Housing Initiatives Partnership
State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds will be made available to eligible homeowners living in the unincorporated areas of Leon County in need of rehabilitation of their home via deferred payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loans. Individual homeowner applicants will be selected based on compliance with all eligibility requirements of the most appropriate programs which include:
- The Home Rehabilitation program provides eligible homeowners whose homes need repairs to ensure the home is decent, safe, insurable, code compliant, accessible and to prepare for future disasters;
- The Home Replacement Program assists eligible homeowners with the demolition of the existing home and reconstruction of a new home, if the cost of rehabilitation is expected to surpass 50% of the value of the home.
- Emergency Home Repairs most often include: damaged roofing that is leaking, damaged windows causing exposure to the elements, electrical, plumbing or septic problems that could cause damage to the home or to remediate an immediate health hazard to the occupants.
If you live inside City limits (Tax Code 1) please contact the City of Tallahassee for emergency repairs on non-Mobile Home dwellings.
Mobile Home Emergency Repairs
The Mobile Home Emergency Repair Program, funded by the Housing Finance Authority of Leon County, primarily assists low-income Leon County (including inside City of Tallahassee limits) mobile homeowner-occupants that need repairs related to immediate health hazards and/or to eliminate a developing threat to the dwelling or its infrastructure that needs to be mitigated immediately. Typically, projects are funded as grant assistance however more costly repairs may require a deferred payment, forgivable, noninterest-bearing loan.
NOTE: Mobile Home owners must also own the property on which the home rests.
