Leon County Government Internship Program

Internships are a proven way to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and experience while establishing important connections in the field. Internships are also a way to get your feet wet and find out if a specific field is something you could see yourself doing full-time. Internships may be completed during fall or spring semester or full time over the course of the summer. Leon County offers hands-on, resume building Internships in many areas: public administration, legislative work, community and media relations, human resources and many more.

Steps to interning with Leon County

  • After the semester application deadline your application will be sent to County divisions you specified, where they will review the application. If your application is selected, you will be contacted for an interview by the division supervisor in charge of interns.
  • Following the interview, you will hear back on whether you have been accepted and if chosen you will be given information on attending an Internship orientation with Leon County Volunteer Services to go over important information related to completing a successful internship.
  • Upon completion of the orientation and related forms, you will work with the department internship supervisor to set up a starting time and date and create a mutually agreed upon schedule.
