DesignWorks is the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Department’s professional Urban Design team, which takes on special projects, such as the Downtown Wayfinding sign system, Design Guidelines, and Placemaking throughout the city and county. Citizen participation can lead to design concepts that incubate in the DesignWorks studio, before being developed and executed by other departments, or by private sector practitioners, as in the Civil Rights Heritage Walk and the Smokey Hollow Commemoration in Cascades Park.

Second Harvest of the Big Bend is a non-profit charity started in 1982 to address the urgent problem of hunger in the community. Their mission is to feed hungry, food insecure people in North Florida’s Big Bend region, and to educate and engage the community in the fight to end hunger. As the region’s primary source for charitable food, Second Harvest acts as a storage and distribution depot for over 149 front-line agency partners (emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes, homes for the mentally disabled, and domestic violence shelters).
